How can BPI Environmental improve your Erosion Control Practices?

Erosion Control is an important part of storm water management and natural resource protection. The professionals at BPI Environmental are familiar with local code and can help you insure that you’re doing everything possible to prevent unnecessary erosion and sediment loss.

BPI Environmental installs silt fence for developers, builders and municipalities, improving the prevention of erosion runoff.

BPI Environmental installs orange construction fencing in order to prevent trash from becoming litter and as a barrier along the sides of construction sites.

BPI Environmental installs new inlet coverage for drainage areas, preventing dirt and trash from entering the inlet.

BPI Environmental cleans out the inlet covers to maintain water flow and prevent trash and dirt from entering the inlet.

BPI Environmental installs and replaces sandbags that hold down the inlet covers.

BPI Environmental builds and services water quality ponds in the greater Austin area.

What is Erosion Control?

Erosion control is the practice of preventing, or at least controlling, wind or water erosion on construction and development sites. Usually this means creating some sort of physical barrier, such as fencing, sandbagging or rock, which absorbs some of the energy of the wind or water that is causing the erosion and blocks access to areas prone to erosion (also areas where construction materials could be spread outside the boundaries of the site, causing potentially harmful effects).

Examples of some erosion control methods include conservation tillage, contour plowing, mulching, riparian strip, riprap, terracing, wattle (construction) and windbreaks.

Erosion Control Services:

Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans
As of March 2003, a Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan must be formulated on commercial and/or residential sites of one(1)acre or more. BPI Environmental can provide a comprehensive Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan. This includes Best Management Practices, a timeline for practical completion, complete BMP Site rendering and the appropriate compliance forms.
Drain Inlet Filters
Whether it’s residential, commercial, construction or post-construction drain inlet protection, BPI Environmental offers solutions that help keep our clients compliant with Federal, State and Local regulations.
Inlet Maintenance
BPI Environmental filter bag service includes a scheduled cleaning of the filter bag as well as replacement of broken rock bags and cleaning of gutters on each side of the drain.
Erosion Logs
Straw and rice wattle can prove to be one of the most effective erosion and soil control BMP’s. Proper trenching of the wattle assures the appropriate installation. BPI Environmental will assist in determining the correct size of wattle to assure BMP’s based on degree of slope. The staking of wattle needs to follow distance procedures while being aware of any and all sloping and depth of curb issues.
Orange Safety Fence
BPI Environmental implements safety fencing to satisfy our clients unique needs. This process was used in the TSM case study when the builder had to protect a tree.
Concrete Washout
A proper concrete washout area is critical in staying compliant with BMP’s that meet required guidelines.
Stabilized Access
The professional way to reduce and eliminate soil and sediment on surface streets and in storm drains. Create compliant access with BPI Environmental’s Rock-Stabilized Entrance and Exit.
Site Monitoring
Unfortunately erosion and soil control BMP’s are moved, destroyed and altered by the multiple subcontractors on each site. BPI Environmental’s monitoring program helps curtail any unforeseen future alteration to your SWPPP compliance applications. This service is a small price to pay to remain current on SWPPP criteria, particularly with the busy activity that accompanies our clients sites.On-site erosion and soil control monitoring is also available assuring that BMP’s are consistently in compliance. BPI Environmental offers a monitoring service that assures all BMP’s installed are maintained to keep each clients site compliant.
